Michael Ross is a Scottish artist based in the Highlands of Scotland. After studying at Grays School of Art, Michael had a short hiatus from Art but in the last couple of years he has had renewed interest and success with his Artwork!

Usually working in Oils Michael produces studies of sunsets, landscapes and seascapes, along with colourful expressions of poppies giving a real sense of depth to his work. More recently he has started working in watercolours focusing on quirky Highland cows in different scenes usually juxtaposed with hens, pheasants or some typical bird or animal found in the highlands!

Although they feature a number of Scottish cliche’s the overall feel of the paintings is of charming eccentricity and Scottish wonder. Michael’s paintings have proved very popular with an ever-growing demand and fan base. Some of the Cows have even found themselves in private collections all over Britain, Europe and across the pond to America.

His paintings can be seen in a number of venues throughout the Highlands and he has his own Gallery based in Gordon House Gallery gifts and coffee shop Dornoch which exhibits all his latest works and a number of paintings by other well known artists and he can be spoken to in person about his work or to discuss commissions!
